About Pong

Pong is where video games began — a 1972 table-tennis simulation that became the first commercially successful arcade game. Two paddles face off across the screen, knocking a ball back and forth; miss it and your opponent scores. This version pits you against the computer on the right side. The spot where the ball meets your paddle changes its bounce angle, so you can aim your returns and try to wrong-foot the CPU. First to seven points takes the match.

Tips

  • Hit the ball with the top or bottom of your paddle to angle it sharply.
  • Return to the centre between rallies so you can cover either direction.
  • The computer is fast but not perfect — sharp angles are its weakness.
